Unedited, this is a short creative writing piece I wrote for one of my very first Education classes.

Good Morning Students!  Today we are going to travel back in time to the year 2006 and experience the education system that existed at that time in history.

Are you Ready?  ZZWOOMP!

Watch the teacher as she writes her lesson on an object called a whiteboard.  She must carefully write each letter, a far cry from our automated boards.  all I have to do is speak and the words appear.  The students are sitting at desks that are clustered throughout the room.  This allows them to interact with each other as they do their assignments on paper.  Think of the technological advantages that you now enjoy!  You get to sit at your personal digital screen and work at your own pace with automated CPU’s.  The end of the day has come.  The student troop out of the doors and get on buses or wait for parents to pick them up in cars.  Now-a-days, you get on your vanishing scooter and travel home at speeds beyond their imagination.

Very interesting. I only retired from teaching three years ago and school then was certainly not as far ahead as you seem to be now. I taught children at clustered desks and there were no scooters to get you home. Good work.

    Hmm… I guess I didn’t explain that very well.
One of my college professors asked us to write (in class) a journal entry on what we thought school might be like in the future… So this was all out of my imagination!
    Glad you enjoyed it! :)
