Your zombie-survival team.

It is a well established fact that one day, this world will become overrun with the swarms of the undead. When this happens, true demise will come from being unprepared. It’s not the weak who will fall first and plentiful, but those who have not properly thought ahead. And it should be everyone’s goal in the Upcoming Zombie Apocalypse to ensure their survival, as the more alive humans there are, the less zombies. As such, before the zombies overrun your chosen place of residence, you should have your zombie-survival team assembled and ready for action.

Your zombie-survival team should consist of no less than six and no more than ten people, fulfilling four distinct responsibilities: lookout, food, weapons and shelter. You are probably wondering why there are more than four people suggested in the zombie-survival team. The reason for this is to eliminate the possibility of the team disintegrating because one member has succumbed to zombie-ism. Redundancy in the system will ensure that the system will work. However, having too many people in the group will only open up the possibility that a member will become infected without being noticed, or at the least, cause power struggles.

The following is a description of each position, how many people should fulfill this position, and their pre- and post- apocalypse responsibilities.

Lookout

Who fulfills: All

The lookout looks for signs of zombie-ism in the team and the out-side world, so the team may spring into action the moment a zombie outbreak is detected.

Pre-apocalypse responsibilities:  Pay close attention to world news sources, searching for signs of non-quarantined occasions of the zombie outbreak. Look for phrases such as “new disease strain outbreak” and “hospital riots.” Should such phrases be detected at an alarmingly high rate, the lookouts should inform the rest of the team of their deduction.

Post-apocalypse responsibilities: Help defend the shelter by constantly reviewing fellow teammates for bite marks and signs of infection. Keep watch over your shelter, to warn of en-masse attacks. Four-hour, around the clock shifts are suggested for a group of six.

Food

Who fulfills: 3-7 (for groups 6-10, respectively)

The food keeps track of what is being consumed, and by whom, and keeps the food stocked accordingly. Live animals and plants are suggested.

Pre-apocalypse responsibilities: Keep a healthy garden, with plants that are easily transferred and moved from place to place. Should your city-ordinances allow, keep goats and mules, as these also will be useful in transporting the plants as they will be for providing food. Don’t forget to stockpile other food-related supplies, such as cooking implements.  Don’t forget to stockpile cans of food that you yourself cannot grow or easily transport as living plants.

Post-apocalypse responsibilities: Transport garden and animals to the shelter. Keep them alive at the shelter. If stuck in an urban area, forage for food in homes and stores, once the area has been properly cleared.

Weapons

Who fulfills: 4-9 (for groups 6-10, respectively)

The weapons keeps track of who can use what type of weapon, and makes sure the weapons are in full working condition, and have ample ammunition. Even though only part of the group fulfills this responsibility, everyone should be proficient in at least two firearms, and be comfortable in wielding a blade or a club.

Pre-apocalypse responsibilities: Buy weapons at a steady rate. Do not buy numerous weapons at one time, as this will probably give reason to the authorities not to trust you, and possibly damage your ability to buy any weapons.

Post-apocalypse responsibilities: Keep track of the ammunition use. Should the ammunition reach low amounts, melt down less useful metal items to turn into bullets. Make sure everyone is proficient in their weapons of choice. Do not allow any to leave the shelter without being armed.

Shelter

Who fulfills: 3-6 (for groups 6-10, respectively)

The shelter creates a safe and healthy living environment that can also be easily defended. A rural location is preferred.

Pre-apocalypse responsibilities: Maintain proper upkeep of house, and ensure that the land surrounding it is clear of debris. In a shed behind the house, keep these items: wooden boards, nails, hammers, corrugated metal sheets, barbed wire, shovels, wooden stakes, and saws.

Post-apocalypse responsibilities: At the first case of zombie-ism, start building the zombie-wall around the shelter. The zombie-wall should be at least fifteen feet high, and curve outward, with barbed wire at the top, and deep pits at the bottom, filled with wooden stakes. Pay attention to the movements of the rest of the team, so the shelter may be ready once the first begin to arrive.  Should another shelter be chosen, move quickly and stealthily to that location.
