We can learn a great deal from the characteristcs of birds and beasts. If humans could only emulate some of the aspects of their inborn qualities, there would be peace on earth, and peace within ourselves, no more conflicts of self-interest, no more terror, no more wars and no more illegitimate territorial gains.

Why couldn’t we, as humans imitate other living creatures that stay together without unnecessary conflict, creatures such as the birds and the beasts? Their conflicts are strictly by way of survival.  When we see a flock of birds sailing gracefully across the sky or perched on a rooftop , we observe unison and tranquility, leaving one another alone, unscathed by violence, untouched by hatred, surges of hostility and enslavement. They convey a message of unity of purpose.  How they uniformly migrate altogether from one place to another, ultimately settling down where they could share the provisions of the earth, should elicit our interest and observation as to their overall, time-honored freedom, unaltered by the ravishes of time and hardships.

We could observe tranquility and peace, reflected in their demeanor. They do not necessarily vie for superiority, nor satiate their egotism, other than their natural instinct, partaking of what the earth caters to their survival.

On the other hand, the beasts that inhabit the wilds likewise stay together in harmony. Their conflicts could be attributed to hunger and the urge to propagate.  Yet, their hunger is limited to their survival, which is inclusive of their territorial instincts by which they remain contented, without the objectivity of competitive wars, as well as the futility of disunity and voluntary violence.

Humans began their existence violently, as also the beasts that originated mostly from dinosaurs and other carnivorous creatures, with one exception:  Humans have inherited violence that is basically considered to be ancestral in nature, whereas the birds and the beasts have developed considerably, setting the stage for a much more radically benign existence than  humans.

We must constantly ask ourselves why and wherefore have humans arrived at this stage, waging wars, hurting and terrorizing one another, even while sheltered under the umbrella of religion, the advent of which began with the sole purpose of love, respect, peace, fraternity, kindness, mercy, understanding and last, but not least, enlightenment and self-preservation.
