A friend of mine had met someone she thought would last forever. But what happened?

My friend Ashley and I had gone out for a couple of drinks. Ashley was approached by a fairly attractive looking man. He started talking to both of us and seemed very nice. He was clean shaved and well dressed. He asked us to join him at a house party with a few other friends. Ashley and I agreed, we were familiar with the area and a few of his friends that he was with.

Ashley and lets call him Dave seemed to hit it off right from the start. They were laughing and talking for most of the night. I noticed Ashley and Dave had disappeared. I figured that they had gone to someone’s bedroom. I trusted Ashley in her decision, and that there really wasn’t any reason to not trust Dave.

I decided to call Ashley’s cell phone, but there was no answer. I talked to a few people around the party to see if they knew where Ashley or Dave might be. No one seemed to have any answers. I decided to look around the house knocking on bedroom doors. There were 4 bedrooms on the second floor, they were not in either of those rooms. I noticed some people coming up from the basement. So I decided to go down there and check.

I entered a small room off the main area of the basement and heard someone crying. It was Ashley. She was beaten up badly, left for dead. I called the police right away. I was to afraid to run upstairs and tell anyone. I didn’t know who was all involved. I let the police know where we were in the house and the situation about being afraid to go back up into the house.

The police and ambulance arrived almost within 10 minutes. Someone must have let them in and lead them to the basement. They rushed Ashley to the hospital. Escaping with a black eye, a broken nose, a bloody swollen lip, and broken ribs. Some might say that Ashley was lucky.

Dave was not who he said he was. In fact his so called friends were not even friends of his. He was just a man in the bar that these people invited.

People can be very charming on the outside, but so angry on the inside. This man was wanted on 16 charges of rape, and one charge of attempted murder. He escaped from a nearby low security prison, and was missing for more than 3 months. There are still rape victims, including Ashley that fear for their lives everyday because this man is still at large. It has  been 6 months since Ashley’s rape. This man has been at large for 9 months. Because of confidentiality on Ashley’s and other victims behalf, I can not state his name, state, or prison.

I ask of you not to just trust anyone. It can happen to you, and you might not come out as lucky as Ashley…
