A Safe Place to be

My thoughts.

When i first came to triond it was a very welcoming place. The forum was pretty new and most of the people seemed to enjoy chatting about what they were writing about .As a newbie i made a lot of good friends who were very respectful of one another. Every once in a while Drew would give his opinion and rattle someones cage. but it was always a place where when you need a question answered about writing or marketing your work ,people would be more than happy to help.A time when Miss Cornelia’s little girl was in and out of remission and we would all give her encouragement and prayers from those who prayed. a time when Morgana would grace us with a beautiful poem. A time when people flirted but never crossed lines. the forum was far from  perfect,everyone had bad days and an occasional rant.but the next day there would be an apology from the person who may have had a bad day. I recently went back and looked at comments that people gave me on my poetry an how genuine those comments were, what a nice place our forum was to visit and enjoy the company of people who share a common interest there didn’t seem to be such a need by anyone to be smarter then anyone else .know-one felt it there duty to belittle someone .or correct someone to show there superiority .Trolls were almost nonexistent ,vulgar profanities were kept to a minimum, im not saying they didn’t exist,just not every hour of every day .Jumping from thread to thread just to look for an argument was not common either.you were not chased or hunted down for someone to pick on you ,your argument would usually end with both parties agreeing not to speak to one another.There are people who use the forum now  THAT ACT AS IF ” THEY ” ONLY MATTER,and the rest of the people who use the forum ,are insignificant mindless twits .That is fine to feel that way ,i suppose, but it isnt fine to impose your will and way of life onto an entire community. We have a open forum,which i believe means UNMODERATED and UNCENSORED and open to all triond members. yet there are times when it resembles Germany in the 40’s if you disagree with how people are being treated and voice your opinion opposing the way thing are happening in our forum bullying ,people being attacked with profanity or belittled for there lack of grammar or spelling .and it always goes back to the same 4 or 5 people.i wont name them for this is really just a rant but many people dont bother to go onto the forum for these exact reasons ,and that is a shame .i guess i just miss the way things use to be.i think that since these people dont look like they are going anywhere anytime soon I too will become a lurker and put my 2 cents in whether they like it or not .

    I agree with you totally. I used to visit the forum when it first opened and realized there was a lot of bashing going on so I just dont go there anymore. I feel we are all writers and if some want to act like idiots then I dont have to expose myself to that. Dont take anything that happens in there to heart, you know who your friends are and keep writing!
