A very short essay I wrote way back when.
When asked to write this essay, I thought for a long time about all of the important people in my life, those who have helped get to where I am today. In years past I took the easy way out, and as anyone can guess I wrote about my parents! Bu that’s not to say I do not admire my parents and respect them it’s just that I felt I should write about someone else for a change. This left me in a deeper puzzle: who to choose? Who could I choose? I wanted to write about a sibling I decide. But how? After all I am a child of four. I have three siblings! I couldn’t just choose one! I have a deep respect and admiration for each of them for their own traits and personalities, and didn’t what to do. So when asked if there is one person, whom I admire, I answer simply, I have three. Their names are Bridget, Brian, and Kaitlin. All of them are now living in the Boston area and Bridget is attending BC in her senior year.
My brother Brian has always been a person to whom I admired and respected. He has always been a good student, athletic, and is a kind and generous person. The characteristics that I admire the most about my brother are his athletic ability and his intelligence. When he lived with us he often helped me n my math and science homework. One of my favorite times spent with him occurred last winter when he took me up to Stowe Mountain. Then later that year he took me hiking on Mount Washington for the first time. My brother Brian and my sister Kaitlin have a very similar personality.
Like Brian Kaitlin is very athletic, intelligent, and generous. The quality that I find most admirable in my sister is that she is very bold and strong willed. She will start something and never stop it until her goals are complete or she has finished it. She is also very good with people, giving back to the community by teaching at Thorpe school. She is a very thoughtful and is always kind. Bridget, like Kaitlin can be strong willed too, but at other times is more relaxed and easy going.
Bridget is also an athletic person, but is a little more humorous. The quality that I most admire about Bridget is her down to earth and calm personality, even in the toughest situation. She speaks fluent Spanish, so of course, when I had trouble trying to complete a Spanish project the night before it was due, whom else would I turn to? Her calmness helped calm my nerves and she easily explained to me what I was doing wrong.
Knowing whom you admire is very important. It allows you to set your goals and shows you who you really want to be as a person. Without knowing whom you admire how are you supposed to know whether you are doing the right things in life? So when I think of whom I admire I think of 3 people: my brother, and my two sisters.
