Is there such a thing?

Is there such a thing?

The lady who lives behind me looks like a pretty normal older person: a few wrinkles, neat, generally well kept.  But her vocabulary is limited mostly to words beginning with f and s, and her emotional life ranges from ill-tempered to bordering-on-violent.  She lives purple.

The old guy next door who lives with his son looks like hell.  He has had a stroke or two, lacks a few teeth, uses a cane, and takes about 2 hours to walk around our block.  For the latter, he is famous in our neighborhood.  My first reaction when I saw him was to hold my arms out to catch him.  But he laughs a lot, holds a great conversation, and pauses on his walks when he sees someone backing out of their driveway because it takes him several minutes to clear a driveway when he is walking.

So, who has aged gracefully?  I won’t answer that, but guess who I look forward to rounding the corner.

“It’s when you’re safe at home that you wish you were having an adventure. When you’re having an adventure you wish you were safe at home.” – Thornton Wilder
