The lead sentence reads; An airplane seat, a life jacket, metallic debris and signs of fuel were found in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday by Brazilian military pilots searching for a missing Air France airliner on the front page of Yahoo.

The images this real life tragedy conjures up are pure gore. I see the faces of the people. I hear the screams. I understand the abject fear they must have experienced and then, like a willful wisp of smoke refusing to dissipate, I see them scrambling onto a dry beach just like in the TV series LOST. I want them to be alive, albeit battered, bruised, broken and frightened. I want to believe they made it even if it means months on a strange island full of weirdoes and monsters. 

My heart and thoughts go out to all the families and friends related to anyone on board that plane. For you must live the rest of your lives trying to bury these terrible mental images, and wonder without ever knowing what their last minutes were like. Nothing is worse than not knowing. The world mourns with you and we encourage you all to reach out for help.
