The American illustrators had recently (4/7/10) sued Google for using pictures that they have scanned from online books that are published in Google.
The first sue that addressed this topic was given out in 2005, and every month ever since, but Google has always found ways to bypass or delay paying the fees in order to maintain its ability to scan more pictures that are published on its servers, even if they are copyrighted by the authors.
This time, the United states main Federal Court has been involved in the case, and in the end, Google has agreed to pay a sum of $125,000,000 to the authors of the content that they plagiarised without any body’s permission, or discussing the topic with anyone outside of the company.
Other organizations outside the united states, such as countries in Europe, disagree to this lawsuit and state that Google should only pay to authors inside the United States, since the company’s headquarters are located there. They also said that authors that their content was illegally scanned and used outside of the United states should decide for themselves on whether or not they want to be involved in this matter.
