Maybe I just hate to move. ..
The commute to and from the college is horrible and boring. I’ve been going to the college for a little over a week, and so far it’s the only part of college that I don’t like. It’d be so much easier to just live on campus and walk to class every day.
A normal college day for me starts out 5:30am. I have to work fast because the bus leaves at 7:45am from the Kingston Plaza. When I’m done getting ready, I do my hair and slip out the door at around 6:30. Lately the weather has been so cold that on the long walk to the bus stop, my hair freezes and completely undoes whatever I had done with it. When I say the walk to the bus stop is long, I mean it’s almost a mile and a half. In the cold snow, the walk feels ten times that distance. The distance combined with the freezing temperatures makes it almost unbearable. I’m also carrying a heavy bag so mobility is hindered further.
After I arrive I have to wait for the bus. Luckily I can sit inside the store the bus stop is in front of, where it’s warm. However, all I can do is sit and wait. I have nothing that I can do on the commute because I don’t want to add more weight to the bag I’m carrying. I sit there for an entire hour sometimes waiting for the bus to show up, unable to do anything. Then when the bus finally arrives I have to sit next to a crying baby, or similarly annoying person. On top of that they flood the bus with heat so that when I get off the bus I’m hit with a blast of freezing air that feels colder than normal.
After college is the same deal but backwards. The bus is always late and I have to deal with the same company on the way home that I had to deal with there. Then I have to walk all the way back home in the cold. This is worse than going to the college because I get heat from the bus first and have to deal with the enhanced cold the entire walk home.
I know I could solve all this by getting a car, but I don’t have the funds for that at the moment. I guess I have to deal with the commute until I can get on my feet enough to have my own transportation, but I wish that the college had a free way to get me to my classes without freezing to death every day.
