An article about the storm that devastated six states and how can we help?
Were were you on this date, April 27, 2011? Were you at home sleeping? Were you at home busy doing your homework? Were you at home preparing your things for the next day? Were you at your home watching your favorite TV program? Did you know that somewhere in the United states, six states to be exact , were hit hard by tornadoes storms yesterday and a lot of people died and affected. As of this afternoon 1:00 pm pacific time, at least 273 storm deaths in 6 states. 184 died in Tuscaloosa, Alabama alone. 34 died in Georgetown, Tennessee, 8 dead in Virginia and a lot more died in Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama. The number of deaths in six states are still increasing and hundreds of people missing. Residential houses, buildings, trucks, cars and other properties all gone in just one night. Open your TV and watch the news and see for yourself. See how you will react to this event. What’s going on in your mind right now? What can you do? How can you help? How can we help? I don’t know about you but we can’t just ignore this tragic event going on around us. We can’t pretend that we are not affected at all, at least not physically, but from the point of view of being human, we have a responsibilty towards others. I encourage you to open your heart and open your mind. Be very aware of what’s happening around you, you’ll never know what’s going to happen next. Be grateful that you don’t live in those states, be grateful that you have a house and a beautiful home right now, be grateful that you have your family right now, be very grateful that you are where you are right now, alive and breathing. Be thankful, be very grateful for your life. So many ways to help. Prayer is one. Pray for all the victims as well as the survivors of the storm. Believe me, the power of prayer works. And if all of us as a whole will pray for one another and the people that died, our prayers will be answered. If and when we go to Church this coming Sunday, remember the people of these six states, pray for them and pray for the whole world. Another way to help is to REACH OUT TO THEM. Send whatever help we can, financial as well as their basic needs, clothes, food, water and other necessities. If you watch the news, they give you number where to send your HELP. We can do this, right? As a citizen of the world, we have the responsibility to get involved and be counted. Another way is VOLUNTEER. If you can call emergency agencies from your state, I’m sure they will be willing to take you as a volunteer to help out those people affected. Show compassion and be very ready for whatever help you can give right now. This is the time to help, this is the time to show the world that we’re there for them. This is the time that we can make a difference by just doing some simple ways of reaching out to others. A simple prayer will do, a piece of clothing will help, a bag of food and a bottle of water will ease their pain. Let’s not ignore them, instead offer our help to them, open our doors to them. Today, they might be the victims, tomorrow you’ll never know who’s next. Let’s hope it’s not our state, our houses, our properties, our family, our loved ones, us who will be next. Let’s help and reach out and do something about it. LET’S HELP.
