Just yesterday i sat and thought to myself, are we living in some kind of virtual reality? Although it may seem like and idea out of The Matrix if you sit and think about it the more you may realize just how true it seems. Our lives have so much structure and every physical object seems to come down to some kind of basic structure. Atoms, quarks, molecules. It’s as if our world is computer-generated by some sort of futuristic super-computer. Even the concept of time is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, years, centuries, and Milena. Moore’s law says transistors will get twice as small in size every year. Already our computers have evolved so much in less than 50 years, but imagine what 500 more years might enable us to do. The realism of certain video games has become so good sometimes it can be mistaken for real people. Look at some games for the PlayStation 3 or Xbox360 and you will be amazed at how realistic some of those are. Now i want you to think about what the possibilities could be if we had 500 more years of research and development on computers. I think it’s a very real possibility that we could one day simulate a whole universe and environment, and maybe we already have.
