In the year of 2008 the United States made history by electing the first black male

President. Who is this man? His name is Barrack Obama. Now, before we any further let’s take a step back and take a look at his past.

He was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii being a bi-racial child, having a black Father and white Mother. Later on when he was six years old, he moved to Indonesia with his mom. During his teenage years, he worked at a ice cream shop called ‘Baskin-Robbins’, and ended up getting a dislike for ice-cream from there. Back in his early years he experimented with drugs, he tried marijuana and cocaine. According to his own words he is not proud of it and considers it a mistake as a young man.

In the late 1988’s, Obama entered Harvard Law School. He was selected as an editor of the Harvard Law Review at the end of his first year, and president of the journal in his second year. Immediately after graduation, Obama worked as a community organizer.

After giving a little background check on him lets now take a look at some of the history he has made. During the years of 1997 to 2004, Obama served three terms in the Illinois Senate. And in 2008 he won his first ‘Grammy Award’ for the audio book version of his blockbuster tome “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.” Later on in 2008, he was elected as the 44th President of the United States. Obama has also achieved many great awards in his day such as the ‘Nobel Peace Prize’ and two Grammy awards, both for his voice recordings of political writings.

Now that we have taking a look at some of the things he has accomplished lets finally take a look at some of the fun facts you probable never knew about him. Barack Obama is a smoker and is trying his hardest to quit. After all, there is a non-smoking policy in the White House. Another interesting and fun thing to know about him is that The University of Chicago once did an experiment with him. They put Barack Obama next to a solar panel and told him a funny joke. As Obama laughed, his teeth reflected the sun onto the panel, which generated enough electricity to power the university for a week. The last thing that’s pretty interesting is that next time the $1000 dollar bill is produced, Obama will be on it.
