What is the battery of a liquid metal?
This means that the device, or battery in which all components (cathode, anode, electrolyte) maintained in liquid form at high temperatures.
The electrodes are made of liquid metal and is used as the electrolyte molten salt. To maintain the metals in the liquid state are required high temperatures, and around 752 °F – 1292 °F.
The biggest technological challenge that battery technology will effectively maintain a high temperature.
The solution should be alone electrical energy that is stored in batteries. Electricity provides enough energy for heating the active part. However, it will still need to work on shape and design of the battery itself.

The company is now working on a prototype, which can store about 1 kWh of electricity. The device consists of several layers of paper the size of pizza boxes (see picture). Each layer has the ability to store up to 200 Wh of electricity.
To illustrate, one such battery would be able to power the television five hours with power 200 W, which corresponds to the average LCD TV diagonal and 40 inches.

What is so amazing?
Liquid batteries have many advantages. The electrodes are much more resistant to wear and also allow large current flow, which is important for storing large amounts of instant energy. The advantage is the low cost of materials.

The ultimate goal is to create a battery about the size of refrigerators suitable for installation in houses. The cost to build storage for 1 kWh of electricity would then be around $120 USD.
