Summer means a lot of activities to be done. There includes visits to the beach with the whole family, splashing around the pool, visiting the farm, family outings in the park. These compromises your hair. The evidence shows dry, frizzy and faded looks in general. In this case, how do you go about maintaining a lustrous and manageable hair?

A few simple things would be done on daily haircare that can fix the problem:
- Use lukewarm water when shampooing. Hot water can open the hair cuticles leading to moisture loss and making its texture as corn stalks. Hot water water also hastens fading of coloured hair.
- Those with an oily scalp can shampoo daily. But if you have a dry scalp, alternate days work better. This will stimulate the oil glands and allow the natural oils to coat the hair. You can just brush your hair from scalp to ends with a natural bristle brush.
- Choose shampoos wisely. Hydrating, color safe are safest for daily use.
- Shampoo immediately after a swim in the pool as the chlorine can strip hair moisture and cause loss of color. Sun can amplify this chemical increasing stress to hair leaving it brittle.
- Rinse out immediately when you swim in the sea with tepid fresh water.
- Go for a hot oil treatment followed by a clarifying shampoo about 3 times a month. This treatment offers moisture and adds shine. Coconut oil by far is the best for your hair in any season. A mixture of olive oil with a few teaspoon of lime juice can do.

- Conditioning treatment is vital during summer. If you have a dry hair, use hydrating conditioner regularly. After applying conditioner, comb hair to make sure that the entire shaft is well moisturized. You can make your own deep conditioning mask by using olive oil / mayonnaise.
- Before applying a deep conditioning mask, rinse your hair with lukewarm water to make it more to treatment. Wrap it with a warm towel for 10 minutes and rinse it with cool water to lack moisture in. If you have higlights, chamomile / lemon juice in the last rinse can be used.
- Buy a tea tree oil-based shampoos. It can combat dryness and dandruff with its natural cooling properties.
- Skip styling gadgets during summer. But if you need to, keep setting low and protect hair with products use to prep hair for use of styling gadgets.
- Minimise use of hair color. Color the visible areas only.
- If you suffer from dandruff or itchiness, make your own treatment. Boil chamomile tea and cool and use as a last rinse.
- Sleep well. Sleep deprivation cold also show up in the form of distressed hair. Similarly diet plays a role. Maintain a balanced diet. Increase fluid intake and cut down fried foods.
Otherwise, treat yourself with a special summer haicut. The shorter the length, the more manageable it will be.
