The trouble with the “Beauty” trend.

It’s our death, our endless goal that we never seem to reach. It’s the desire we all crave and yet it is our worst enemy. It’s the monster that creates envy, it enrages us so much that we bring harm to ourselves. This beast, this desire, this goal, our death is beauty. Beauty is what kills us. It never ends and will always be the one thing to destroy us, we are never beautiful enough. So many believe you are not beautiful until you’ve reached perfection, but no one ever tells you that imperfection is perfection. No one ever tells you that beauty is on the inside and not the out. Beauty consumes us and won’t release its deadly grip. Once you start the process of transformation to become beautiful, it’s like a bad habit you can’t break. You become addicted and can’t quit it no matter what you do or how hard you try. Behind the masks, there inside one’s self lies the most beautiful creature on the face of the earth. Who you are makes you beautiful or ugly. But your appearance means everything. It determines how popular you are, it determines your job oppurtunities. No one ever sees the beauty that lies trapped so deep inside a person one would term as “ugly” or “freak.” No one ever sees the beauty in someone who eats themself to death because no one ever thought for one precious second of their life that they could be polite enough to just remind that person of how truly beautiful they are. We are all so damned shallow to overlook the appearance of others and that makes us blind. Not only does it make us blind, but it makes us hateful, vain, cruel, shallow, ignorant, and so damned discriminatory that it could more than possibly make racism a joke. If we judge by one’s appearance it not only makes us discriminators, but also more than anything else, would that not be going against everything we fight for in other countries? We spend so much time being so vain and blind that we become terrorists in our own country and hurt those who do not deserve it. We terrorize the fat kid, the geek, the dork, the band kids, the gays, the lesbians, the freaks….anyone who is less than beautiful by appearance is terrorized and for what?! To make ourselves feel better, to make our lives be a little more at peace knowing that our words, our actions just might actually be the cause of someone else’s pain, or worse, death. When you do these things, it makes you no better than the people who attacked our country. It makes this country no better than theirs, because here we are terrorists against anyone different. It makes you no better than anyone else who has caused destruction. How can there ever be peace among a society where girls strive to be beautiful, where boys struggle with bullying, where kids are being told they’re fat by the United States that we have to declare a war on obesity. So here it is, everyone is beautiful, everyone is unique, everyone is different, and the imperfections you may have make you beautiful. The only way a person could ever be ugly, is from the inside. A girl may have a pretty face and a boy may have good looks, but their attitude makes them who they are, whether they are ugly or beautiful. So before commenting on someone’s appearance, remember that a terrorizing act or verbalization makes you a terrorist. Remember that what you say and do is what determines your beauty and your worth. Remember that words do hurt and can lead to a destructive course of action. Remember all of this, because this is all so very true beyond any shadow of doubt. So think on it.
