As Valentines day approaches, my mind is firmly on arranging it to make it both beautiful and special. This is my first Valentine’s Day in my new house and a well as planning a meal etc, I have decided to compile a love song compilation on my Ipod to help set the mood. 

Here are, in my opinion only, the best love songs

Love of my life – Queen  Although their mass of great hits are more popular and well known this has to be my all time favourite. How gorgeous is this line – when I grow older I will be there at your side to remind you how I still love you, I still love you

By your side – Sade  This has very personal sentiment to me, the lyrics are beautiful as is Sade’s voice

Goodbye my lover – James Blunt  Fantastic words, they capture the heartache of lost love

Hold you in my arms – Ray Lamontagne  Absolutely gorgeous, when my father was diagnosed with cancer my fiance dedicated this to me, and it gave me strenght to hear it

Last request – Paolo Nutini  This song melts my heart, I think if I was ever foolish enough to walk away from the love I have, this song would send me back with a slap from reality

Walking after you – Foo Fighters  This was my first proper song between my man and I, if you have not heard it already, I urge you to. I think it is just brilliant

Loving you – Minnie Ripperton  It captures the essence of pure love, somebody who is so deeply in it and so absorbed in all its splendour
