I was listening intensely at the Preacher one day as he was preaching on this Subject, "Two Are Better Than One." He had some good points for sure especially when two are in agreement they can accomplish more because two he said are better than one.
Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, we are told. But, with all thy getting, get understanding! There are some points I wish to emphasize. One point comes from the Book of Ecclesiastes and another point comes from the Book of Proverbs. It is clear then that Wisdom and Understanding must be used together to get the best result possible in any situation. Likewise a husband and his wife must work together applying wisdom and understanding in their relationship with The Lord, with themselves, and with their fellow beings. Wisdom and understanding are close and they are both important for the individuals who are trying to be obedient to the Lord.
Wisdom and understanding will reveal to you that the mystery of love can confuse even those who are highly educated in the knowledge and ways of the world. Simply because without God given wisdom to rightly apply their knowledge they cannot understand the length, breadth, depth or the interactions of love. That’s why love not wisely understood can be damaging, dangerous, deceitful, and very destructive. When evil minds fail to get the wisdom and understanding of the mystery of love, wars and rumors of wars are the results. Precious lives are taken, Abortions, Incest, child abuse, murder, rape and other abnormalities in life arise. In every day life these two, Wisdom and Understanding are required. These two are better than one.
Man by himself could never live in this world and be happy without a wife, or a partner. That’s why the Creator said, “It is not good for man to be alone” and created him a wife to be with him. In the Book of Ecclesiastes, the writer, whom we believe is Solomon, in the fourth chapter and the ninth verse, writes, “Two are better than one. People are more happy when joined together than they could ever be living alone. In their work, in service, in entertainment and in war, people are wiser, stronger, more creative and happier when they are together. They are more likely to be united in good works which is done for the good of all.
When two or more are united in good works they have a good reward of their labor. Whatever good service they do, it is returned by God to them another way. He who serves himself only has himself only to enjoy and appreciate his work. When one is alone he commonly proves more unjust and ungrateful to himself than his friend. When one is alone they usually feel depressed, unappreciated, and their mind becomes the devils workshop because they get no good reward for their labor. But he that is kind to another has the pleasure and the advantage of holy love which will be an honor for his work.
In the wisdom of Solomon, who wrote, “Woe to him that is alone.” he infers the mischief of solitude. He lies exposed to many temptations of Satan and his demonic traps, which good company and friendship would prevent and help him to guard against. A monastic life then was surely never intended for a state of perfection, nor should those be reckoned the greatest lovers of God who cannot find in their hearts to love any one else. In this I surely concur and say, “Amen.” Two or more are better than one. So you ought to get married then accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord then join a Bible Believing church!
