My morning started as usual. My daughter woke up and asked for her bottle of milk, while my hubby slept until 9am. Hmm… I was wondering there is no cakes or birthday wishes from him either. No sign of any presents or bouquet of flowers at all.

I made breakfast as usual and prepared coffee for hubby. Subsequently, he played his guitar and could not care less for me. I was reading my book while my daughter was busy with her toys. At some point, I almost fell asleep and she’d remind me to keep awake. She hates me asleep when she’s awake, and would ask me to open my eyes and pull me to a sitting position, to prevent me from falling asleep.

Just then, someone came to out door and it was strange that my hubby did not get up to see who it was. Without further delay, I got up and there was a delivery man. At first, I thought he was delivering something for my mother-in-law or hubby, because I was very sure I did not order anything. Then he said that it was for me. That was when I noticed the bouquet of flowers in his hands. I was panicking, and could not find the keys to open the door. My hubby continued to sit down and now was reading the newspaper.

I fumbled as the delivery man handed me the pen to sign for the delivery and handed me the bouquet of beautiful sunflowers. I even forgot to hand him back his pen, until he asked for it. Then I closed the door. I read the message on the card.

It said, “Dearest Sydney, Wishing you a happy birthday, from your dearest husband”. A simple message, but very meaningful nevertheless. I went over to my grinning husband and gave him a big warm hug. He said, “Did you think I would forget?” I seriously think he’d never forget. I continued to shower him with lots of kisses.

“Are you surprised?” It was a heartwarming surprise! Thank you, hubby!
