The reader learns that while in Europe, Linus taught at the Guggenheim and he was considered the “Boy” Professor. He looked younger than his age and was also the youngest person of the faculty, which earned him his name. Linus’s mother died of pernicious anemia, which is when the body loses its ability to absorb vitamin B-12. Linus’s child, was now two and a half years old, he was one when he left. The death of his dear mother deeply saddened him but he ignored it in order to be able to get back to his work. This was seen as cruel by some and dedicated to other people.
