Brad Pitt to be the new star for the “World War Z” Book to Film adaptation? Read more.
Brad Pitt, the buff 46-year-old star, has officially been chosen to fight zombies in his new film, “World War Z,” MTV reports. Author Max Brooks (who is the son of Mel Brooks and also has written “The Zombie Survival Guide” and a companion graphic novel) revealed that Jolie’s man will be the star in the blockbuster adaptation about a world war against the undead at Comic-Con on Thursday.
Pitt was a rumored choice to be the star for a while, according to MTV, but Brooks didn’t officially get notified of the actor’s involvement until the Wednesday night signing for Avatar Press. Since one year after the book’s release in 2006 the film has been in development, but the new signing of Brad Pitt is the furthest step so far to make the hit book a film reality.
“I’m glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can,” said Brooks. “I’m so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team.”
Marc Forester is also helping with the adaptation. The mentioned book, “The Zombie Survival Guide,” and the graphic novel accompaniment “The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks” have also been optioned by Paramount.
“I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been,” Brooks said.
“The Zombie Survival Guide” sold over a million copies thus far. A feature film for this book is coming, as well.
