Burglars broke into to get money, but what they got was way more.
Intruders smashed the front window of Pet Palace in Leominster. As they did, they heard a male voice coming from the back room. Spooked from realizing there was a person in the store the burglars took off running. The only notable thing about this every day occurrence is simple. The voice they heard belonged to Merlin, a blue and gold macaw. Macaws are of the parrot family that has the remarkable ability to learn and mimic human language and sound.
Merlin when spooked tends to call for his former owner. His voice is so close to that of a human that he has fooled people before. He is kept in the back of the store because Merlin is spooked easily and tends to speak in some very colorful language.
The full story was only discovered after cops were called to the scene and slowly pieced together what happened after they heard Merlin themselves and were fooled. The burglars made off with only $15. The burglars at this time have not been arrested yet and this case might not be solved due to lack of evidence, but thanks to Merlin, all that was lost was money, not a life.
