A calgary comic writer wins a contest.
Calgary comedian Brian Stollery has been voted canada’s next top comic, according to XM satellite Radio Cananda. Stollery won the national contest after a round of public voting. comedians from across the country submitted clips to the competition. Stollery, who once trained as an actor at the prestigious National Theater School in Montreal and now mostly preforms corporate events, beat out thousadns of contenders for the spot. A panel chose the top eight comics, who were then put to the public vote. The top comic crown comes with a spot at the Global Comedyfest in vancouver on sept. 17, a cash prize of $2,000 and a professionally recorded CD of stollery’s act.
