The first quest in a new series, which revolves around the king of Varrock and his subordinates.

Description: The king of Varrock is terribly ill. He has a steadily-growing fever and strange hallucinations. The king’s medics, slightly panicing, have called upon you for help.

Can you heal the king, whose time is running out?

36 Agility (45+ Reccomended)
Ability to kill multiple level 50-81 demons and slay a single level 101 demon

Items Needed to Complete Quest: Snake Weed, Ranarr, 2 Empty Vials, Knife, Armor, Food, Tinderbox, 3 Ropes, Bow/Crossbow with Arrows/Bolts, any type of beer or draught

Items Recommended for Quest: A decent weapon, Silverlight for demons (if no alternative is available), teleport runes for Varrock and Falador to save time

Items Acquired During Quest: Vial of blood, Vial of thought

  5000 Herblore exp., 3500 Agility exp., Ability to make and drink Sanity Potions

Start Point: Varrock Caslte, second floor

To Start: Talk to one of the king’s medics

1. The king’s medic will tell you the king’s awfully sick. He’s having hallucinations also. You need to help them, or the king might die.

2. Talk to the king. Ask him what he’s feeling. He has an enourmous headache. He also tells you he sees demons dancing around in his eyes. He’s pretty ill alright.

3. Go to Taverly. There, speak to some of the druids for advice. They will tell you (in pieces) that you will need snake weed to stop the headache. It must me mixed with the eye of a newt in a vial of water. Do this. You will recieve a rather strange result: ‘Stinking newt mix’.

4. Go back to the king in Varrock. Give the potion to the medic. The king’s fever will drop, but not completely. He will tell you that he feels better, allthough the demonic visions he’s having are getting worse.

5. You will suspect poisoning. You need to interrogate every person in the castle about poisoning the king (this can take quite a while). After questioning them all, you will see that poison isn’t an option.

6. Go to the library. Look in the shelves for a book called ‘Unidentifiable Sickness and Curses’. Read it. You will conclude that the king has been cursed. You now have two things to solve: how to cure the king, and who did it.

7. Go to the king. Ask if anyone has been near him before he became ill. He will say he doesn’t remember anything because of his headache.

8. Right-click the king and select ‘Hypnose’. You will attempt to hypnotise the king. During the hypnosis, you accedentally brush againt his necklace. You’re sucked inside the king’s mind!

9. Things are pretty messed up here. Don’t be shocked, but at some points your character will start walking backwards, it’s hands, while skipping and hovering around. It’s the influence of the madness. You need to clear yourself of this condition. If you select the knife, there now is a ‘play-with’ option. You will accidentally cut yourself. Use the vial with puddle of blood to collect it.

10. Now you have all the ingredients, make the Sanity Potion. Use your Ranarr with your vial of blood. You will get a blood mixture. Use the draught/beer with the mixture. It will turn into an alcoholic mixture. Use your tinderbox with it to let your character evaporate the alchol. You now have a Sanity Potion. Drink it.

11. You will start to feel better. You will now walk around normally. Now examine the pillar in the middle of the round spot you’re at. You will hear voices coming from it. But it’s pulsing purple. You think this is the centre of the mind, and you need to purify it.
