Red grades on major subjects, ruined love life, busy time and family problems bombarded the mind of a 20-year-old chemistry student.

Sitting alone in front of a study table in a cold night, memories of bad past and problems that seems unsolvable flash dread images into the student’s mind.

She failed her major subjects during her last year taking BS Chemistry. Her overnight studies, home experiments, eye-closing examination preparations and researches confusingly didn’t aid in her blood feud in the said course. Her boyfriend left her because she was too busy studying chemical thingies and did not have a mole or time for her beloved boyfriend. Her father died a month ago because of cancer and her mother spending long time sitting alone, depressed of her father’s death.

Covering her face with her hands and peeking through the spaces between her fingers she saw a bottle of hand rubbing alcohol. She then remembered her moments with her dear boyfriend and tears fell from her emerald eyes. She cried and blamed herself for the happenings in her life. She whispered silently talking to herself, that she loves her boyfriend, she loves chemistry and she really loves her father.
Her shaking hands reached for the bottle of alcohol. The pain that she felt penetrated all over her body from her inner most. She wrote a short letter using a pen and a sheet of ph paper and taped it in her chemistry journal. In a few seconds she swiftly drunk all the alcohol in the bottle she was holding. The biting taste of alcohol reached her internal organs and she fell to the tiled floor.

She opened her eyes and white light from a hospital’s window filled her pupils. She saw her classmates around her. Many of them asked how are she and how was she feeling. While shocked and still wondering, she kept silent lying down on a white clothed bed. Then she asked one of her classmates why is she still alive with a loud echoing voice.

One of her classmates answered. “You want to end your life because of failing chemistry? You know girl, you’re so intelligent but you’re just not careful. If you want to die … you don’t… Girl you drank ethyl alcohol and we chemist know that ethyl alcohol is edible… You should have drunk isopropyl… so failed your suicide because of a wrong alcohol and I think that is also why you failed chemistry.” Her classmate laughed and she gave smile.
