The fact is we will get old, but have we taught our younger generations to respect their elders?!

Circle of Life

Whether we like it or not, the circle of life leaves us aging and getting old. We try to keep as youthful as possible, but time sneaks up on us, and “BAM” we are suddenly 40, 50, 70, and sometimes we get luck to hit 80. We long for the day when school was a nuisance and we wished our parents would just chill out, and now our kids are asking or hoping we would just chill out. Can it be that we have turned into our parent? Well the answer is yes we are becoming our parents and I can only hope that when I get to my parent’s age that I will go gracefully.

To everyone who is reading my words, I can only as that you treat and respect you elders, because that is the path that you too will go down. I watch our youth disrespect their parents, and I am so disturbed.

In 2010 we still have grand parents who lay down the law, who try to instill some discipline and core values but what will happen when the time comes and you become a grandparent. Will you have the “guts” to be firm and guide our youth, or will you too allow them to go one disrespecting their elders.

The circle of life comes whether we want it or not, holding on to our own youth is impossible, but teaching tomorrows youth the values we were taught, is very important. Perhaps even our adult children need discipline, as well as guidance.

This is excellent advice to follow, We should learn to respect our elders because we will want the same thing when we are older.

Our generation has put money ahead of family, moved away from family to pursue careers, every family has either two working parents or a single parent, leaving our kids to be raised by the TV – what can we expect from the next generation?

Nice One. The world is surely changing. But I doubt the change is positive.

Sadly our world has changed and not always for the better. I love to talk with my older patients and hear about their life. Respect is one think we should never lose.
