We all know of the current popular clothing trends such as Hollister, Abercrombie, and Aeropostale, but are people wearing them as the brand or the clothes themselves?
I was in a discussion earlier this week with some friends and have come to think about this subject myself. Are people really buying the cloths for the cloths themselves or the brands. After some research and some extra knowledge I have figured out a few things.
Most people may wear popular brand cloths just to fit in with the “crowd.” Thought some people wear them for its quality and comfortabilty but on the comfortabilty principle is a placebo? Does wearing clothes everyone wears make you feel good making it feel “comfortable?” In addition, clothes from other stores such as Old Navy are as good quality as stores such as Aeropostale. This leading me to think most people wear it for the brand itself.
On the other side of the discussion can people just wear it for the cloths themselves? I say yes cause some of the brands of a unique appeal to them then the other cloths with there unique designs. Also, the material maybe good but it could be good material that other clothing departments use?
The target audience of the clothing stores are usually teenagers and young adults. This is suually the work of peer pressure. For a real life an example, a kid goes into school not wearing store brand stuff making them feel akward around others then there pressured to buy these cloths themselves and since school and the status markings in school or whose the most “popular” peer pressure does effect the way stores make there money.
As a result I belive the majority of people wear store brand clothing just for the braind ton fit in and not feel out of place.
