My opinion on the colonial responses to british actions.

I believe that the colonial response to the British actions was not reasonable. The Boston Tea Party (in 1773) was an act of rebellion of the colonists. When England gave the British East India Company the right to sell tea at a lower price than the price of smuggled tea. (Smuggling had become an issue after import tariffs were placed on goods such as tea, paper, glass, and paint.) However, instead of being relieved about this, and happy for the lower prices, they revolted. When an East India Company ship harboured at Boston, Bostonians disguised as Native Americans boarded the ship and destroyed 342 cartons of tea. Just because England lowered their prices.

Numerous other events such as this one occurred throughout the colonial time period. I believe that the colonists were overreacting. Did they forget that they were once English? England is their mother country; they owe it some respect. A lot of the colonists first sent over were sent to make money. Money for Great Britain.
