"I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."
- Arvo Part.
In the visible region of
the electromagnetic spectrum
between the ultraviolet and the infrared regions,
you will find the seven colors of the rainbow –
VIBGYOR as we commonly know.
Red is the very first one -
the one with the highest wavelength
but with the lowest frequency of vibration.
It’s the color of Mars, ruby and the metal iron.
It symbolizes the warmth and energy of an urn.
The musical note of red is C.
Orange comes next to the color red
and it’s the color of amber, gold and the Sun.
It’s known to stimulate emotion.
This color symbolizes bravery.
The musical note of orange is D.
Next in the spectrum is the color yellow.
Yellow symbolizes intellect and wisdom
as it stimulates the nervous system.
It’s the color of topaz, mercury and planet Mercury.
The musical note of yellow is E.
The fourth color in the spectrum is green
It symbolizes all that is serene.
It’s the color of Venus, copper
and the gemstone emerald.
The musical note of green is F.
Blue is the color that comes next.
It’s the color of Uranus, zinc and
the gemstone sapphire.
It symbolizes love, devotion and harmony.
The musical note of blue is G.
Sixth in the spectrum is indigo.
It’s the color of Pluto, bismuth
and of the gemstone azurite.
It signifies dignity, knowledge and high aspirations.
The musical note of indigo is A.
Violet is the last color with the
lowest wavelength and highest frequency.
It’s associated with Neptune, cobalt and amethyst.
It represents honor, self-esteem and spirituality.
The musical note of violet is B.
Colours in the spectrum as you see
are all associated astronomically.
They each represent a metal and a stone,
the finer qualities we wish to hone
and a distinct melodious tone.
