The Common Eland also known as the Eland antelope or Southern Eland, come from the East and Southern Africa.

Female Elands weigh between 660-1,300 lbs (300-600 kg) and be as long as 79-100 in (200-280 cm) when being measured from the snout to the base of the tail. When you add the tail, it will be an additional 20-35 in. (50-90 cm) longer they are. They can stand about 49-60 in. (125-135 cm) at the shoulder. While the male Elands (Bulls) can weight between 880- 2,200 lbs (400-1,000 kg) and be as long as 94-140 in (240-345 cm), when being measured from the snout to the base of the tail. They can stand 59-72 in. (150-183 cm) at the shoulder. When you add the tail, it will be an additional 20-35 in. (50-90 cm) longer they are.

Female Elands has a tan coat. They also have horns that is about 26 in. (65 cm) long and is thinner and wider then males. Bulls has a darker tan coat with dense fur on their foreheads and a larger dewlap. They also have horns that is about 26 in. (65 cm) long.

Common Elands diet is made up of berries, leaves, grass, and branches. The reason for their diet is because they live in the open area in the southern part of Africa and near the foothill near the great South Africa plateau.

They roam the land in herds. Some herds has as little as 30 but can have as many as 400 in it. Since they do not make strong ties with the others in the herds they float from herd to herd.

The known predators to the Common Elands are Lions, Spotted Hyenas, African Wild Dogs, and, rarely, Leopards.
