It was only recently when I sat down in a public meeting. A point was raised where a musical band had concerns. This main concern was where the council had changed the terms of lease of a hall they use. The band had brought a new found hope into people’s lives. Some of the members of the band thanked the environment for changing their lives from what it was to a new horizon. A trumpet player spoke of his own dilemma where he was a cancer patient and was formerly a teacher. His life had changed for the better and found the whole place a good feed back and they grew confidence and felt happiness in this place of music where there was song and dances. The previous lease was on a 5 year basis. The council had seeked to change this to a 2×2 year deal or lease. This would be renewable when the time came due. The Band felt strongly enough to question the change thinking it was a sign to an end.

     On the contrary former Mayor stood up to justify she had supported the band and the good work it had done in the community. Although the council spoke in terms of business rectifying the terms were appropiate to business in the modern day. Even though the band was supported a late coming member demanded why the change in lease existed. The speaker repeated the term of reference but obviously was not what needed to be heard by questioner. She would need to contact councillor during office hours for extended talks on the issue at hand.
