Concern over tree’s destruction

MITHI,Feb 6:Regional Director of the Ombudsman office Shakir Jafri has expressed concern at the destruction of camiphora mukal (gugral)trees in Karoonjhar by the henchmen of influential people by applying chemical in the cuts made in the skin of these trees.
Talking to journalists,he said that destruction of trees on a wide scale exposed inefficiency of forest officials who were responsible for protecting forests.
He had recently visited the hilly area near Nagaparkar on the complaint of Scope,a non-governmental organisation working for the protection of environment.
He said he had witnessed that some greedy elements had made cuts in the branches and trunks of the tree and had reportedly put very harmful chemical in those cuts to enhance production of gum by the tress.
But the chemical did serious and many died after words.
He said he would submit a report to the high ups and said that it was a collective responsibility of all the people of society to take care of environment.
