It’s back with 14 new, and brave, celebrities.

                                    Dancing On Ice 2010.

I look forward January every year, simply because of Dancing On ice . It returned to our screens last night with 14 new, and very brave, celebrities. Lat night was ” ladies night” as it seems the men are to make their debut next week.

Daniella Westbrook from Eastenders was the first one out, and I thought she did very well. She has a natural grace, which I’m sure will stand her in good stead in the future. I was also very impressed with Hayley, the bubbly girl from Emmerdale, who also has a great presence, probably from her acting experience,  and she was bold and confident with her steps. I have seen her before on Soapstar Superstar, she has an amazing voice, and came second in this, and obviously excels at everything she tackles.

I think it must be hard for all of them, not only learning to dance on ice, but also knowing it has to be performed in front of so many people. Bad performances often make it into the papers, because if you are a celebrity you are not supposed to mess up, and they have my genuine admiration for their courage.

I feel a very special mention should be made about Heather Mills. She has been  an inspiration for many people who have lost a limb ever since  she lost her leg in an accident in  the 1990s. She has worked tirelessly for her charities, and is indeed  proving that disabled people can skate, for others like herself.

It doesn’t matter how long she stays in, or whether she is the best skater, it’s all about her courage, and when I see her, I feel ashamed, that although I am able bodied, I cannot skate.

Good luck to everyone.
