Do you love philosophy? This is just a thought provoking piece I wrote as inspired by Socrates…we’ll share more.
Sometimes I sit alone, contemplating about various issues that to me appear like one proverbial riddle.I have been following a few of the teachings of Socrates since I first heard of him from the principal of a certain school. I’m always forced to waver in most of my ignorant opinions so as to agree with him.
There’s word that midwives shed painful tears when it dawns on them that their work led to what makes others cry. One of them has confessed that they sent a joyful scream that pierced the belly of the sky during my birth when they realized it was me.
Well, not until I was born did I realize that life is a riddle of many solutions. We have thrown care to the wind; either for a penny, pretext love or selfish anticipations.
In a larger fraction of my life- I have spent some quality moments trying to examine some human behaviours. Poverty has tossed my miserable life on her delicate palms and the experience has taught me to be philosophical.
I even caught myself writing a verse about fast speakers- people who in one breath can blend both reality and fiction, but care about none (I may be one of them though). Just follow my blogs for these kind of verses.
For instance, I always wonder why in our ignorance we could be explaining in very many words about Heaven. For now, I’ll spare those who speak positively about the same for I confer in thought with them. For those who have a different opinion, may someone throw some light upon this idea in just a few words.Where on earth is Heaven? Wait…when were we there last? I’d with the same interrogative breath advice us to assess our thoughts before we answer this.
Invisibilities, in my humble opinion require beliefs, faith and insights to explain and adhere to.Heaven is an invisibility. Before I agree or disagree or even teach about the same; I should find that I’ve examined my life (as Socrates would have put it).We need some doctrine about body and soul and the phases of human life..:unborn, born, dead….yaddah yaddah, yaddah.
Thanks to my Lecturer- Dr. Wamboi whose introduction to the Teachings of Socrates( the great Greek Philosopher, makes me accept my way of reasoning). Socrates wouldn’t dodge death for he doesn’t know whether it is the greatest blessing! Who else knows; any way? It’s the fear of death that makes us not to abide by the divine which is punishable as taught by him. We run way from our true selves in case of a threat and thus lack the stuff of which we are made of.
Now suppose when someone dies, they are welcomed into a world where consciousness is unheard of; depending on whether they were ‘good’ or ‘bad’. A world where What You See is What You Get; where gender and age are reconciled. The only place where life is dead and death is alive. Wouldn’t we want to be there? Now suppose we call that place a good name, say Heaven; would we change your mind?
Well, suppose those who have already gone there refuse to give you room (maybe because the place is too good or perhaps because they fear undergoing a new stage or phase).Wait, why do we think about this place when we are not ready to die or you are ready to die when we are still ‘unclean’?
