Death on display ?

Why the all consuming heed
To feed this ghoulish  need
Is this the flower
Of some ancient seed

why all the demand
For a dead body on display
Didn’t we see enough views of the dead
During the Macon delta Frey
This absurdity with a single corpse
Is to no ends too good
Didn’t we see enough dead bodies
When the assassins
Wore hoods

Did not we see enough death
When human ovens were in use
But then they used to chare a fee
To see native Americans
With their neck in a noose

Let’s close that door behind us
Thank the lord and knock on wood
Focus back on the living
And get back to doing
What we should

we humans certainly do have a morbid facination with the dead – perhaps because most fear death so . . .
