Another essay, scary story for one of my classes…. many years ago. Enjoy.

Dèjá Vu

Tracy changed out of her business suit and into some sweats. She had started walking for 30 minutes after work to clear her head. She felt safe walking in her quiet neighborhood, but it was October and it was already dark out. She met a few neighbors out walking their dogs, and then she was alone. No cars drove by for a few minutes, and she got very nervous. She decided to cut her walk short and go home. All of a sudden, she heard rustling coming from the bushes. It’s probably just some small animal, she thought, trying to stay calm.  She turned around and saw some hair sprinkling down from the air. This was very weird and she got extremely spooked. She felt warm sweaty breath on her neck. She was so terrified that she didn’t even turn around.

Pitter Patter….. It was the sound of her running shoes rushing down the street, stepping in the occasional puddle. Still frightened, she sprinted on until she got home. Her door had many scratches on it. She lived alone, so there was nobody to comfort her. The phone rang and she felt relieved that maybe one of the neighbors had seen her running and called to check on her. When she answered the phone she knew it was a mistake. “Hhhhhhhh, haaaaaaaaa, hhhhhhhhhh, haaaaaaaa beep, beep, beep”, is all she heard. She hung up the phone completely petrified. As the night grew old, she was still awake and this time she was prepared for any unwelcome visitors. She had bought a knife for protection when she had broken up with her boyfriend last year and she still had it.

At approximately 3:00 am she had gotten so tired that she fell asleep with the knife under her pillow. As she awoke she drowsily recalled all that happened.  Suddenly, she was once again at the driveway in front of her neighbor’s house! She ran back to her house to see that it had been marked with a red X. She picked up the phone to call 911, when somebody called her. On the other line it was a man who had a voice mask. He said “NO COPS” and hung up. She picked up the phone again to call them anyway when a note flew in her open window.  It read “PUT DOWN THE PHONE!” She couldn’t take it anymore!

She looked around her house to see if the person that was stalking her cold have left anything that would distinguish him and also to get out of view of him. She found four notes in her old father’s room. He had passed away three years ago. He was murdered and nobody could figure out who did it. The four notes said “IT- WAS-ALL-ME.” She had no clue who this person was but she wanted to kill him for killing her father. She and her father had the best bond. She was so furious and about to rage when someone knocked on the door. She didn’t answer it. The person knocked two more times and then smashed the door down backwards. He had a werewolf mask on and really hairy arms and legs with a black cut up shirt and pants. He was carrying her dad’s cane. He chased her around the block going around and around and finally she TRIPPED!!! She looked up and the mysterious figure was gone. She then opened her eyes to find herself standing in front of her house again in her sweats and waving to one of her neighbors. Was it all a dream? Did any of that ever happen? All those were questions that she was asking herself. She went back inside and opened some wine. Then she noticed a note on the wine bottle that said “DÉJÀ VU”. Then there was a knock at the door.
