If you can’t tell it to them, don’t tell it to me.

So often people want to insult others to another person.  They use this person as an outlet because they can’t bring themselves to tell the person they talk about to their face.  Often times they will put down the other person to their outlet, but to the other person’s face they are their best friend.  Some see it as being tolerant of the person but I see it as being cowardly.  In a way you are lying to the other person’s face every time you talk to them because earlier you were insulting them to an outlet.

And what does the outlet think when he hears that you are the other person’s friend when they are around but not when you are speaking with the outlet.  I can’t speak for the world, but to me it makes me wonder what they truly think of me.  Because they are my friend to my face, but they are also the friend of the other person they just insulted to me.  So how do I know they aren’t turning right around and insulting me to the next person they talk to?

Put simply if you are going to be someone’s friend to their face, don’t insult them to me.  You may think of it as just a way of being tolerant, but it makes you a very questionable character in my eyes.  So the next time you want to tell your outlet something insulting just ask yourself “Did I tell them this?”
