Possible or Impossible!?

How to write a project/essay/coursework in a general sense

During University or school, when writing a project/essay/coursework you have a certain amount of words to write. At first you think either that’s do-able or you think that’s impossible. Then you start writing it and the word count flies from your mind! This is fine. Do not get hung up about the word count, at least not yet.

When you hand in your first draft you think it’s good and the best that you could have done within the time space that you had. Then you receive your comments and you realised that you missed out a whole block of information that you now have to research and find out. Then comes the word count comes again. Do not worry about it yet.

This is the worse part of the project/essay/coursework, as you will have to sit down at your computer and start reading through your own work, go through your lecturer/teacher’s comments and notes and edit your work, then you have to do more research into the topic area that you are writing about. Then the word count comes into your mind again, and the deadline is rearing it’s ugly head. When the deadline comes around, this is when you worry about the word count

The best way for me to deal with writing projects/essays/courseworks:

A – Sit down and think about what the project/essay/coursework is about

Write some notes down on a piece of paper or notebook. Do some research before hand of the subject area you believe you need for example if it’s a science project you will have results at the end, so look for past projects that are similar to what you are going to do your experiment on. Look at the results of the past projects and make a critical comment on it.

B – Talk to your lecturer/teacher about the projec/essay/coursework

This is helpful as they will give you ideas about where to go to gather your research. They will point you in the available places that can help you with doing your own research such as the library, a database online with past papers that can help you criticise others work, Google Scholar where peer-review is important in some cases, teams within the academic area to help with grammar, punctionality marks, and how to improve on your word count.
