Our parents choose our names with no real idea of our characters so can it be that similar characters have the same name or is it just a time or
fashion thing?

Recently my teenage daughter came home with a new boyfriend she introduced us to him as Alex, nothing unusual there or is there?  A year before she had introduced us the boyfriend of that time – his name too was Alex.  My brother is married to a woman called Michelle, prior to this long term relationship he had three girlfriends called Michelle – did they all have the characteristics or was he just bad at names?  I used to belong to a writing site where my favourite author shared my name, reading her profile she was a mirror image of me.

I remember my mother once saying that when my brother was a baby everyone seemed to be naming their boys the name she had chosen and yet she was not aware of it being a popular name prior to her choice.  If she had chosen the name David or Stephen there would be an argument for popularity but William?  When she had named me six years earlier she knew no other new mothers that had chosen the same name as her.

I chose to name my daughter after the midwife that delivered her, for my list of name where all for boys.  I wonder why parents choose the names they do and if without realisation it is with a knowing of the future character – my daughter is very laid back, calm and relaxed, caring and able – the qualities of a midwife?

There is a mathematical theory called the chaos suggesting that whilst seemingly unrelated a group of things are connected. How many people do you know with same name and similar character is there a little chaos going with name choosing?

Numerology could be the key, there is a site out there somewhere that explains it, I can\’t remember the name of the site, but it was something like \”it\’s all in the name.com\” this explains that to every letter of your name a numerical value is assigned from 1-10 A=1,B=2,k=1
l=2 and so on the numbers of the name are all added together, along with the birth date, and say the total was 84 you then add the 8+4=12, you then add the 1+2=3 then you would be a 3 person, hope you find this of interest, as I did your article.

I think there is a connection,i think it is fate somehow working it’s way together.

Thought provoking and intriguing. To some extent, I think it’s true that a personality could be developed around a name, especially if the individual is aware of the “expectations” surrounding the name (as in a family name) … i.e., a person could start behaving the way the name suggests.
But I think it’s probably more true that people in general are so similar, so an observer of two people named X who is looking for similarities will find similarities. If you named one of those X’s the name Y instead, then someone else would see similarities between this Y and some other Y. :-)
I have no idea what I’m talking about. See? Your article indeed is thought provoking and intriguing! I enjoyed it.
