In the second part of my do you know this guy series, I am looking at the “All about money guy”.  Most of you know this guy, and while usually very likable, he has a strong desire to let you know how much money he makes and spends.  All about money guy has a good job and nice things, and he wants to tell you about it, over and over again.   Some of the common traits of all about money guy include….

• All about money guy will buy you a drink at the bar, then tell you the amount of his bonus that came in today.
• All about money guy will only wear name brand.
• All about money guy went to Vegas, where he won and lost over $12,000 last night.
• All about money guy only drinks top shelf liquor even during happy hour.
• All about money guy has a lot of useless stuff around his house, so he can tell you how much they cost.
• All about money guy will usually make outlandish promises that he has no intention of filling, i.e. “When your child gets ready for college let me know and I will pay for it.”.
• For all about money guy, the dollar amount spent is more important than the goods purchased.
• All about money guy is never concerned with whats on sale.

Some other information you may hear from all about money guy without asking are….

• All about money guy just spent $2,500 on a custom made couch in the colors of his Alma mater.
• All about money guy has a pair of $200 shoes, that are not endorsed by a famous athlete.
• All about money guy needs a touchdown to cover his $3,000 bet.
• You know exactly how much all about money guy spent on his golf clubs last year.
• If all about money guy loses something, it will from here on out be described as that “blank dollar amount something”.  Like that $100.00 money clip.
• All about money guy is a financial genius, and even in a recession made a ton last month day trading.
• All about money guy has at least 5 major credit cards.
• All about money guy is in the top 10% of donors to his college.
• All about money guy just spent $1000 dollars, but by the time you read this all about money guy will have made $1000.
• All about money guy got a raise last week.
• You need to be impressed with all about money guy.

All about money guy is closely related to One Up Guy, but they are not the same.  All about money guy will only exaggerate the amount spent or made by about 20%, where as One Up Guy is, more than likely, completely lying.  Another key trait of All about money guy is that he is more than likely financing a lot of this stuff in order to impress you or anyone else within earshot.  In my experience, all about money guy is not a bad guy, just one who is obsessed with the dollar, and has some self esteem issues.  But hey, if All about money guy is going to buy a round of drinks, just to listen to him rattle on about his job and his stuff, I can handle that.  It certainly beats buying your own drink and having to listen to someone else ramble on about something else you don’t care about.
