Brief outline of David Tennant’s time as the tenth Doctor.

Britain’s most-viewed science fiction television show Doctor Who, has recently witnessed the passing of an actor that played the humorous and intelligent tenth Doctor with skill and determination. The impact that actor, David Tennant had on the British public was remarkable and will be remembered throughout history as one of the best Doctor’s of all time. Tennant successfully gained the title as “The best doctor who since Tom Baker”. (quoted by Doctor Who Magazine).

David Tennant replaced the ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) in 2005 during Eccleston’s final episode “The Parting of the Ways”.This was Tennant’s first appearance on-screen to the ever-growing fans of Doctor Who. Tennant’s first official episode was “The Christmas Invasion” which was a 60 minute special aired in the United Kingdom on Christmas Day 2005. From this day forward, the wonderful world of Doctor Who had changed forever.

Tennant faced many of the traditional Doctor Who enemies including the Cybermen and the Daleks. However, the two villains were no match for this spunky new doctor that Tennant cleverly portrayed. Many new Doctor Who enemies were introduced during Tennant’s era including; the Weeping Angels, the Clockwork men, the Wire, the Master and many more. However, Tennant did not face these tremendous villains alone, he had the help of his young and attractive companions; Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate). Tennant formed many great relationships with his companions on-screen and off-screen.

David Tennant was sadly missed on New Years Day 2010, as the tenth Doctor decided to save his loyal and trusted friend, Wilfred Mott (Bernard Cribbins). The Doctor died a courageous and brave character who will be greatly missed by Doctor Who fans worldwide.
