                                                            Dogs Die in Hot Cars.

Now that summer is here,  with even the lightest of clothing on, I sometimes find high temperatures unbearable, so what it must be like for all animals, with a coat of fur, I cannot possibly imagine.

My dog is a golden retriever, and he sheds fur every day, and when the temperatures soar, he finds himself a nice shady spot to stretch out in. If I walk him on the beach, he plunges in the sea with such a relieved look on his face, and then lays down in it to cool off. 

I find it best to walk him early in the morning , before the sun is at its hottest, and again in the evening, when it has cooled down. I find shady spots in the woods and under the trees, as seeing people walking along a hot dusty road with a dog panting and going so slowly really does make me worry that the dog is distressed.

I never take my dog in the car on a really hot day unless I have the air conditioning on, or the windows down. Sometimes it is necessary to take the dog in the car, but it’s never acceptable to leave your dog in the car for any length of time.

Even parking in the shade is not enough, as the sun moves round, or even opening the window. Your dog is trapped in a small space which becomes like a greenhouse when the sun beams down on him. I cannot stress enough what a horrible death he would suffer, your dearly beloved best friend, who is so faithful. It is too awful to even think about. This is why I will never do it.
