My thoughts and some research on Doomsday.

So, the world’s going to end December 21st 2012. Whoopdy doo right? Wrong. This is probably the most feared date in history. Probably also the most talked about.

The science behind it.

There are way too many conspiracy theories out there for me to list. To name a few, the Illuminati, UFO’s, and last but not least, aliens. Not only do these theories claim to “explain” how the world will end, but where. There are also the scientific theories, the actually probable ones. These include huge asteroids crashing into Earth, massive solar flares, and Earth’s magnetic field failing. The asteroid theory at least is sensible, with many ways this killer asteroid can come crashing to Earth. According to the theories, it will be knocked out of orbit by another asteroid, be little chunks of a once larger asteroid, or just be thrown offtrack by a planet’s gravity. The solar flare theory makes sense as well. It explains that on December 21st, 2012, a massive solar flare will go off and release massive amounts of energy, and not only frying half of the Earth, but releasing EMP waves, and destroying every electronic device ever created. This also seems very plausible. The magnetic field failing has to do with the solar flare, also very plausible unlike the conspiracy theories. This states that when the solar flare goes off, it will take the Earth’s magnetic field down, exposing everyone to extremely powerful UV rays, and frying them. Sounds like a peaceful way to go, right?

But there is also some controversy to it.

Just because people say it’ll happen, doesn’t mean it will. The Mayan calendar supposedly restarts anyways when the current one expires. And the chances of getting hit by an asteroid? It could still happen, but usually the Moon takes all of the blows for the Earth. “But what about the Solar Flare?”, you might ask? To be honest, there really is no way to stop this from happening. But my personal thoughts on it are that if we are really supposed to have a huge solar flare, then we would’ve seen evidence of these biblically proportioned solar flares in past history. So if it’s going to happen, why on 2012?

But hey, post comments, share your ideas. I want to know what you think.
