There are many sides to people, but oftentimes you can’t see as many as you might like.
Bridal showers are enjoyable, if a little unsettling. For me, it’s all ways interesting to see people together with their families. It gives a little bit more clarity and often makes individuals I’ve known for long periods of time look more human. That’s a terrible way to phrase that and I’ll have to find away to rephrase that to not sound insulting. In a way, I tend to put my friends on a pedestal. I always imagine that they’re ten times better than my lowly self and it gives me something to strive for, if only I could be as sweet as Alice* and Cindy*, as engaging as Lacey* or James*, a hair as smart as either of my Masons*, as out going as George* or Henry*, as focused as Dennis* and Vince* (I could go on, but for lack of time), I would be an awesome amalgamation of individuals ready to take over the world. And meeting family members helps to dispel these foolish notions of practical-perfection that in the end always finds a way to injure me. If I can’t realize that people are just that their people, a whole bunch of personality traits all wrapped up in shells of mistakes and experiences worthy of learning knowing. Plus with the expectation of near-perfection an unexpected unknown burden is placed on the people in my life. With out being aware of it these badges I silently pass out can be damaged and ruined purely because I get stuck in the way I view people.
I need to learn to trust.
But the original point was that when bringing together multiple generations I feel like it tells me a lot about a person. How they treat their friends vs their parents vs their grandparents reveals so much. I’d like to expound but I’m fading mentally and find myself incapable of creating words or proper sentences.
So peace.
