Longing for a Jamaica…

Image via Wikipedia

Every year once the snow clears and the frost is gone my mind, body, and soul begin to long for something far away yet familiar.  I begin to feel the breeze against my face and smell of salty smell of sea water mixed with the sweet smell of mangos and jerk chicken in the air.  The sound of birds chirping and reggae playing.  The feeling of no problems and no drama.

How amazing it is that one small island can have so much effect.

I begin to long for Jamaica.  I love the intensity I feel about getting ready to leave. To be able to jump on a plane and in a matter of hours, be there.  To be able to take the wonderful drive around the island to our destination.  Wonderful Negril.  On the way there we stop for refreshments; Red Stripes, soda, water and since time has no meaning we stay for a while and make friends along the way.  Oh, beautiful Jamaica you are so great, allow me to count the ways.  The air is so clear, the trees, plants and flowers seem to carry extra coloring.  The hospitality, generosity and repect of the people.  Oh, how I love thee.  Time seems to slow down there, 2 or 3 days feels like a week, a week feels like a month.

But as you know everything must come to an end.  And “what happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica.”

Jamaica…..Until next time…..Love, Peace and Respect!
