How easily fooled are you?

How easily fooled are you? We all know today is April Fool’s day, so do you expect to get a trick played on you or do you not anticipate anything?

For me, I never really expect a joke to be played on me. This morning I had a rather cruel joke played on me and not once did it cross my mind that it was a joke. Maybe being a female, I am a bit more emotional. Maybe I think more with my heart then my head. No offense boys, but I just tend to go on emotion more often then not.

So when someone text me something earlier today in the form of a text, I started crying immediately. And let me tell you….I NEVER cry. My heart was pounding and racing. I didn’t know what to think not once did it cross my mind that this just may be a joke.

Although I would love to tell you all what the joke I think I may save it for a later time. I would love to hear how many of you are as gulible as me. Or if you are the kind of person that plays practical jokes.

thanks for posting this. being honest, upon first impression, i tend to be instinctively gullible, like yourself, when something like this comes my way. if the text in question made you cry then it was done in bad taste and the person who sent it should realise this.i hope you overcome this and gain stregth. nice writing. i think the moral is that if someone is going to play a prank on someone, then make sure you know the nature of the person you are playing it on first. if that person is sensative then don’t play it on them as they can take it to heart. if they are the mischevious type then they should find like-minded people who will react the way the prankster wishes them too.

No-one should carry out cruel jokes, I am sorry to hear you were so upset. I am rubbish at practical jokes, my faces always gives the game away.

I play practical jokes, but never cruel or anything that would cause someone anguish.
The worse practical joke played on me was by the city’s police department. They left a crytic message on my answering machine stating an extreme urgency. When I called the police they knew nothing about it. At the time I had been involved in a serious car crash, my Dad was ill, and my mother dying of cancer. It wasn’t until 12 agonizing hours passed that I found out it was all a joke played against another police office and I. They chose me because they knew I am gay.
Sorry you had such a hard time. Hugs & kisses.

i don’t apply it to my life…if the world is doing all the foolishness , why would I do it?

There are jokes and there are SICK jokes. The first provokes a laugh, the second a punch on the nose. Still, a good piece, almost an April fool in itself—with you drawing us in and then not telling us the rest.

I have no problem with April Fool pranks, but people should never play cruel jokes on others.

Yes…April Fool’s day brings out two types of jokes: Funny ones, and just inconsiderate ones…many people cross the line too often.

A good laugh, I think, is always welcomed, but jokes where you hurt someone deliberately or accidentally border along the lines of inappropriate.

Excellent write; thanks for sharing. I don’t know what the text message said, or who it was from, but try not to let it get to you- I know that’s probably hard, and as I have no background info on the message, you can always disregard, but either way, they probably have no idea what they were saying and/or had no idea what the consequences could be.

So I am tempted to tell you all what happened and at the same time not…lol…..it really was a cruel joke I didn\’t find it funny at all!

  • Duff D Moss on Apr 4, 2009

Ooo – I don\’t mind playing the occasional practical joke – but I do try and think of the consequences first – I don\’t want people getting hurt or upset.
