What happened to Encyclopedia Dramatica?

Encyclopedia Dramatica, possibly one of the most useful sites for learning about the complex culture of the internet, has been destroyed. The amount of archived material, from raid accounts, to copypasta, has been destroyed. When did this begin? Encyclopedia Dramatica has been in financial trouble for years, because of little to no donations and low advertising revenue. Starting a few months ago, Encyclopedia Dramatica began to remove some of their more “edgy” content, like deleting their page on “Offense”, “Nigger”, and “Jew”. Many people were upset about this. As the past few months continued, they began to remove all offensive images and content. A couple days ago, eBaum’s World, notorious for stealing material belonging to other websites and branding it with their logo, made an offer for the domain name of “encyclopediadramatica.com” that Sherrod DeGrippo couldn’t refuse. Now, when one attempts to visit that domain, it redirects to OhInternet, a site that takes all of what Encyclopedia Dramatica worked for and reversed it. OhInternet is a safe-for-work, non-biased website that “focuses on internet history and culture”(taken from the OhInternet main page). They are so disgusting to link to /b/ directly on their page about 4chan as well. It just makes me sick to think that every website that has any type of bias, racism, homophobia, and general offensiveness is being cleaned up. There are numerous sites trying to restore what Encyclopedia Dramatica once had, but any project like this is going to take a very long time, and going to be extremely difficult. http://encyclopediadramatica.ch/Main_Page and http://www.lurkmoarpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page seem to be the most successful so far. Anyone who can even try to help in any way, please do. I am just afraid of what would happen if Christopher Poole was to do something similar.
