The births of Elephant calves in Melbourne and Sydney inAustralia has seen such joy.

The birth of elephant calves in both Melbourne and Sydney have centred the communities with such joy. I believe nothing is more cute to see than the antics of a baby elephant being so gangly and lovable and completely trusting of her mother and her aunties. The Elephant is a very social animal and the mother both accepts and expects help from the other elephants. I have only seen footage from television newsreel so far but intend to see the one in Melbourne in person soon. I hear from all reports that it is doing well and very active in the pool thrashing about and working that little trunk overtime running in between the strong adult legs without fear and there are times like all babies just flop down and go to sleep it was so cute to see and such a loving site. To see the Sydney birth was such a blessing as well as it was a double take on the Melbourne one. Low and behold a second Sydney one occurred a male calf and it was a surprise as I was not aware fully and before I knew it authorities had announced it to be dead, such sorrow and disbelief was nigh. Then, after deliberating over it, they thought it must have died in the womb as it was hard to check all the vitals with the sheer size of the elephant and the mounds of tissue. Keepers stayed with him while one female was emotional over it laying and clutching on to it, she saw the head lift and exclaimed the calf is alive with tears of joy. It was evident now that the calf was born in a coma and history shows it is the first ever recorded in history. All this was made possible at the instance it was arranged to have elephants transported from Thailand to Australia to help bolster our population of captivated elephants in our zoos. They were monitored carefully throughout the operation and arrived safely and settled in well even if it was done during local protest from animal rights groups but when said and done they were always going to be safe and well
