Some ideas on the end of the world.
With many of the events occurring in today’s world, people are constantly on edge believing that the world may be near to an end. The release of movies such as 2012, Terminator Salvation, Avatar, Pandorum, I am Legend, The Road, and The Book of Eli (one of my favorite movies) as well as many others give an insight into the minds of the people of the modern day.
In many of these visual representations, we see large land masses laid to waste by nuclear warfare or massive earthquakes in combination with a straggling human race determined to retain life in a barren setting. We see one body of people, with whom we take sides with, struggling to achieve survival or some other goal involved with the apocalypse or post-apocalyptic. Also, in many of the apocalyptic-related cinematics, the presence of a deceitful and corrupt government exists. There is obviously a fear present within the people of our era, who wish to survive impending or looming conditions of the world’s end.
I believe that rather than being afraid, rather than watching these imaginated scenarios in movies, and rather than hearing cheap talk from our governments, we should instead press to do something about the situations which are happening. Events such as the GREEN effect and research for alternate fuels have occurred in attempts to save the environment, which is a step, but I do not believe this is enough. The religious and moral fall of the modern world has caused enormous decay, and it is only when we begin to return to our principle values that our nations were founded on, that we can do anything about the situation.
