Tariff / Non-Tariff –

Foreign buyers always placed some conditions that must be performed if we like to access their market with our goods whether it is tariff or non-tariff. Example – to access non-tariff Japanese RMG market we strictly maintain rules or transportation, transshipment, rules of origin, product quality, etc. As well as, some barriers like classification, testing and labeling requirements, registration, quarantine requirement, sanitary requirement, are currently affecting the flow of our exports to India

Backward Linkage

In view of the pressure on lead-time, a competitive textile sector would play a critically important role in (a) raising the competitiveness of the forward-end apparels and (b) reducing the lead-time. China controls about 40 percent of global RMG business and Bangladesh, on the other hand, has only a 2 percent market share. Even though Bangladesh competes with giant China in the US market but question is how long we able to fight as we depend on Chinese fabrics & raw materials import. Strengthening both backward and forward linkage has become crucial, in this context.

Central Bonded Ware House

BGMEA placed this idea to the Govt. to establish central bonded warehouse so that a manufacturer can buy necessary fabric, raw materials immediately from this source as per buyer requirements. As we have no back ward linkage support it may be alternative of this. But BTMA not agreed to do this as it hamper the existing textile mills production.
